Alicja Pruchniewicz, born in 1993, is a Polish visual artist. She creates large-scale digitally inspired abstract canvases that explore saturated colours, and geometric and organic shapes.
Pruchniewicz takes her inspiration largely from her immediate surroundings and from the mundane, everyday aspects of contemporary society. The virtual world, social media and communications are fascinating to Pruchniewicz. Her works engage with the way that the virtual and digital world influences how we perceive our surroundings and imagery.
When it comes to process and creative techniques, Pruchniewicz has her own specific method for creating canvases. The shapes of her actual canvases and indeed the forms depicted on the canvas are inspired by rough drawings that she quickly sketches. Pruchniewicz will then scale these drawings and transform them into large abstracted acrylic paintings.
